AUSTRALIAN DEAF GAMES DEAF YOUTH SPORTS

AUSTRALIAN DEAF GAMES SPORTING VENUES
(TRANSPORT AVAILABLE FROM THE AUSTRALIAN DEAF GAMES HUB AT DEAKIN UNIVERSITY WATERFRONT CAMPUS, CNR GHERINGHAP STREET & EASTERN BEACH ROAD)

The 2012 Australian Deaf Games (ADG) Youth Sports program will provide an opportunity for deaf or hard of hearing young people aged 13 – 18 years to develop their sporting interest through meeting deaf sporting stars and participating in sports clinics offered by players or coaches from National Deaf Sporting Organisations.

The program is proudly facilitated by 2012 Games Organising Committee, Deaf Sports Australia and its member organisations with the support of Deaf Children Australia. The Youth Sports program will feature a selection of sporting sessions from Beach Volleyball, Cricket, Futsal, Golf, Netball, Rugby 7’s, Squash, Tennis, Table Tennis, Touch Football. The final program schedule will be outlined by return mail on confirming your registration.

The Youth Sports Games Pass is $99.00.
This pass allows you to access to all ADG Games sporting events, Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and access to social events at the Games Hub.

The Australian Deaf Games (“the Games”) were first held in 1964 and they are the pinnacle of Deaf sporting events in Australia and owned and managed by Deaf Sports Australia (“DSA”). Involving up to 16 sports and now held every four years, the Games attract competitors from all over Australia and for the first time in 2008, from New Zealand. While sport is central to the event, the Games also provide a major social and cultural festival for the whole deaf community. 2012

Australian Deaf Games, to be held from 14-21 January 2012. 2012 will mark the first time in 29 years since the Games were last held in Victoria and the Games have never been held in Geelong. The Youth Sports program provides a competitive, yet social and fun environment for young people to participate in a number of sports on offer at the 2012 Australia Deaf Games. So come along to the Australian Deaf Games. It will be the best sporting time of your life.

How do I get to the ADG Youth Sports program?
Step 1) For young people aged 13 - 18, please complete you enrolment form below and mail with your payment (Cheque/ money order only) and travel assistance application form to: Pete Folan, Deaf Children Australia, P.O. Box 6466, St Kilda Road Central, Melbourne, 8008.

Deaf Sport Australia has established a travel subsidy program to improve access to the Games of young deaf people traveling from interstate and regional Victoria to attend the Youth SPORTS program. Please email peter.folan@deafchildren.org.au for the ADG 2012 travel assistance form.


Remember: Applications for travel assistance close 5pm on Friday 16th December. Applicants will be notified by email on Monday 19th December. Please note that applying for travel assistance does not guarantee you will successful in securing these funds.
